A WEALTH OF FRANCO-BRITISH EXPERIENCE

At Your Service

For over two decades, we have been working with businesses & professionals in the UK and France navigating the realities of working with their neighbours across the Channel. Since the Brexit vote in 2016, we have also been working very closely with the Channel Islands to build stronger, more practical links with France and vice versa.

We bring a clearer understanding of the French business environment, strong cross-cultural insight, and the ability to anticipate challenges before they become problems — grounded in considerable real experience and supported by trusted regional and national networks.

What this means in practice

  • Faster progress, with fewer misunderstandings
  • Better preparation before meetings, visits and decisions
  • Clearer next steps and fewer costly surprises
  • Practical support, often backed by the right contacts when needed

Brian Murphy

Founder & Strategic Lead

Labyrinthe Business Development Services is led by Brian Murphy, who brings over 25 years of professional experience working between France and the UK, and since the Brexit vote, with the Channel Islands.

His career has been built around Franco-British relations, cross-Channel business development, culture, major events and post-Brexit trade. He works at the intersection of strategy, preparation, trouble shooting and negotiation, helping organisations reduce friction, avoid common pitfalls and achieve better outcomes. Comfortable in meetings about trade in the British Embassy in Paris or the French Embassy in London to quarry sites or maritime port installations and everything in between.

He is actively involved with and works alongside several recognised institutions and networks, including:

  • French Foreign Trade Advisor ("PEA - Conseiller du Commerce Extérieur de la France")
  • TransManche Development Group, Chairman.
  • Franco-British Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Paris, Delegate Britttany & the Channel Islands.
  • UK Department for Business & TradeRegional Business Network (France), Delegate for Brittany & the Channel Islands.
  • World Trade Centre Rennes-Brittany, Partner and active member.

If you’re a British or Channel Island firm or organisation looking for help in France (and vice versa) look no further than Brian Murphy (Labyrinthe).  Brian is a hugely experienced, Anglo-French business specialist with over 25 years’ experience working on both sides of the English Channel. LUIS LEZCANO

Head of International Development Ports of Saint-Malo, July 2023

It is rare to meet people as specialised in the subject of Franco-British and Channel Islands relations as Brian Murphy (Labyrinthe).  His work ethic and commitment are admirable, as is his vast knowledge of Cross-Channel and post-Brexit issues.  Brian is for me an essential player in commercial developments in The English Channel region and the ports of Saint-Malo are very grateful to him for the work he has done for us.
